october 12, 1992. ioan es. pop. Translated from Romanian into English by Nathaniel Smith, K Shaver and Ion Cretu

october 12, 1992

i'm a lonely man. nothing to be proud of. there are armies
of unhappy people who run about and look for
other unhappy people – only that between the unhappy and the unhappy
there are many degrees of unhappiness.

some have much money, others have vain
hopes – there aren't only unhappy people
of one kind.

and when, however, they meet,
the unhappy people make revolutions, after which
everything is taken away from them.
